Serbia's embassy in Tehran was not a direct target of the attack, but the building was damaged by falling shrapnel.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
"One of the strikes hit the Basij base. Shrapnel damaged our embassy. As for our diplomats in Iran, our personnel will be evacuated towards Azerbaijan today", - Vučić said. The head of state clarified that the Serbian ambassador would temporarily travel to Azerbaijan but would later return to Tehran.
Vučić added that the largest number of Serbian citizens in the region are in the United Arab Emirates, and they will be evacuated at the first opportunity.
