The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the missile strike by the US and Israel on Golestan Palace in Tehran, calling it a step aimed at destroying Iran's cultural heritage.

Modern.az reports that IRNA disseminated information about this.

According to the information, Spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baqaei, stated in a post on the social network “X” that Golestan Palace was damaged as a result of missile attacks carried out by the US and Israel this week. He described the attack as a “grave crime” and noted that the aggressors' goal is to erase the cultural heritage that symbolizes Iran as the “cradle of history and ancient civilization.”

In his post, Baqaei also re-shared a video depicting Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Reza Salehi Amiri's visit to the palace after the attack.

Golestan Palace, located in the historic area of Arg Square in Tehran, is one of the most important symbols of the Iranian capital and is included in UNESCO's World Heritage List.

The information emphasized that, according to the 1954 Hague Convention, the 1977 Geneva Conventions, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, and established international law, any attack on historical monuments and cultural heritage is considered a gross violation of international humanitarian law and an overt war crime.
