US missiles have targeted Tehran, while Israeli fighters have targeted Iranian generals. The fate of the Islamic Revolution is being determined in underground bunkers.

Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that the main candidate for the position of Supreme Leader — 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei — is the son of the assassinated Ayatollah.

However, the closer he gets to the throne, the more he tries to protect his assets in the West.

Immediately after Seyyed Ali Khamenei was assassinated on February 28, 2026, high-ranking religious figures declared Mojtaba the main candidate. Experts even planned to announce his selection on March 4, but the ceremony was postponed due to security reasons. The reason for this was the threat of the US and Israel targeting him.

IRGC defends his candidacy. Because Mojtaba has established relations with them over decades and is well-versed in the management and coordination of security services.

However, there are also obstacles to Mojtaba's election as Iran's Leader. In Shia belief, the transfer of power from father to son is not favored. Because this recalls the monarchy, which went against the 1979 revolution.

According to an investigation by the US agency "Bloomberg", Mojtaba has built a real estate empire in various countries with unofficial companies and intermediaries:

11 villas on Bishops Avenue in London, with a total value of over 100 million British pounds (“billionaires' row”),

Two hotels in Frankfurt, Germany, and a shopping center in Oberhausen.

A hotel on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

A villa in Dubai's elite Emirates Hills district.

Bank accounts in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, United Arab Emirates.

Mojtaba's main intermediary is Ali Ansari. He is known as an Iranian businessman and a corrupt individual who finances the IRGC. Officially, no property is in Mojtaba's name, but Western intelligence is confident that he stands behind all the assets. Mojtaba could be elected Iran's Leader next week. If this happens, a close connection will be formed between the IRGC and the Supreme Leader, and the harshest policies will be implemented.

Mojtaba's election as leader will also mean that military operations will become even more destructive.
