Asia is the region most dependent on oil and natural gas flows from the Middle East.
Modern.az reports that influential economic publications worldwide have written about this.
It is noted that approximately 90% of all crude oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz is directed to Asia. Furthermore, approximately 82% of liquefied natural gas exported from Qatar and the UAE is delivered to Asian buyers. China alone receives 38% of all oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz. It is followed by India (15%), South Korea (12%), and Japan (11%).
In addition, over 60% of oil imports for Japan and South Korea are carried out via the Strait of Hormuz. This makes them the most vulnerable countries to potential supply disruptions. For Asia, the Strait of Hormuz is a vital energy corridor.
