Voters in Kazakhstan approved amendments to the new Constitution with 87% of the votes.
Modern.az reports that the main constitutional amendments include the replacement of a bicameral parliament with a unicameral parliament, the creation of a vice-president position to replace the president in case of early resignation, and the deprivation of parliament's right to amend the Constitution, reserving this right solely for referendums.
The upcoming changes will prepare the country for new parliamentary elections, as the current legislative p will cease its work by July 1.
