In which countries is Eid al-Fitr celebrated today...

On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, millions of Muslims in many countries around the world flocked to mosques early in the morning and performed Eid prayers. 

Modern.az reports that, along with Azerbaijan, the holiday was celebrated with great enthusiasm and solidarity in Turkey, Balkan countries, and various regions of Europe.

Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, Eid prayers were performed in the morning hours at the Ilahiyyat, Heydar, Tazapir, Ajdarbay, and Goy mosques.
 

President Ilham Aliyev also addressed congratulations to the people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, emphasizing that this month strengthens feelings of spiritual purification, mercy, and solidarity. The head of state noted that Azerbaijan is one of the rare places where various religions coexist peacefully, and stated that Islam plays an important role in strengthening tolerance and mutual respect in society.

Turkey

In connection with Eid al-Fitr, historical mosques in Turkey were filled. In Istanbul, Turkey, thousands of people gathered for Eid prayers in famous mosques such as Hagia Sophia, Sultan Ahmed, Süleymaniye, Eyüp Sultan, and Büyük Çamlıca. Citizens who flocked to the mosques early in the morning shared the spirit of unity and brotherhood.

Similarly, Eid prayers were also performed in Ankara, Erzincan, Ardahan, and other areas.

Eid Solidarity in the Balkans

In Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, the central ceremony of Eid al-Fitr was held at the Mustafa Pasha Mosque. Due to lack of space in the mosque, hundreds of people continued their prayers outdoors.

In Albania, the main ceremony of the holiday took place in Tirana's Skanderbeg Square with the participation of thousands of people. In Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Muslims gathered at the historic Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque. The head of the Islamic Community, Husein Kavazović, in his speech emphasized the importance of unity in the Muslim world.

In Kosovo, mosques in the cities of Pristina and Prizren were filled, while in Belgrade, Serbia, Muslims gathered at the Bayraklı Mosque.
In Croatia and Montenegro as well, Eid prayers were celebrated with wide participation.

Europe

In Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, the Kadı Seyfullah Efendi (Banyabaşı) Mosque was filled with people on the day of the holiday. As the mosque's capacity was insufficient, hundreds of people performed their prayers in the streets.

It should be noted that Arab countries - Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, Somalia, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Sudan, Mauritania, and Djibouti have declared today the first day of Eid al-Fitr.

In Iran and the Comoros, as the crescent moon was not sighted, the holiday will be celebrated one day later, on Saturday, March 21.
