Iran's missile attacks have reduced Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity by 17%.
Modern.az reports that the state-owned company "QatarEnergy" has released information on this matter.
"The restoration of the significant damage to our production facilities will take up to five years, and consequently, supplies to European and Asian markets will be negatively affected," the statement said.
It should be recalled that Iran on Wednesday, in response to Israel's attack on the "South Pars" gas field, struck "Ras Laffan," QatarEnergy's largest LNG facility in the world.
Qatar's Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of "QatarEnergy" Al-Kaabi stated that exports to China, South Korea, Italy, and Belgium would be affected. He also added that they would be forced to declare a force majeure situation for up to five years on some long-term LNG contracts.
