The US can seize Iran's Kharg Island at any time, following reports that President Donald Trump's administration is considering plans to occupy or blockade the oil hub.
Modern.az reports that, according to AFP, this was stated by White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly. She said: "If the President orders it, the US military can seize Kharg Island at any time.”
She added that "President Trump is fully aware that Iran will try to impede freedom of navigation and the free flow of energy, and has already taken action to destroy more than 40 mine-laying vessels."
Meanwhile, according to reports from American media, the US is sending additional marines to the Middle East, which could signal an upcoming ground operation three weeks after the start of the US-Israel military campaign.
