In Marneuli district, Borchali region of Georgia, traditional festive ceremonies on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr have been postponed this year.
Modern.az reports that this was announced by Marneuli's Azerbaijani religious figure - Imam Juma Seyid Mirismayil Asadov.
“The martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the passing of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia deeply saddened us Muslims. Under such circumstances, I want to announce that the traditional Eid al-Fitr celebration in Marneuli will not be organized this year. I pray for God's mercy upon both religious leaders”, Mirismayil Asadov noted.
It should be recalled that as a result of the Israeli-US coalition's attack on Iran on February 28, the Supreme Leader of that country, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was killed. Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia passed away on March 17.
