If the war in the Middle East extends until September, it will add 250 billion dollars to Russia's budget.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in information from "Der Spiegel" magazine.
The analytical center at the Kyiv School of Economics calculated how much Russia could gain from rising energy prices.
According to the first scenario, the war in Iran ends in mid-April. Oil prices on global markets rise to approximately 100 dollars per barrel, and gas prices also increase. Instead of the approximately 99 billion dollars expected by 2026, Russia now earns 169 billion dollars from oil exports alone; gas sales bring in an additional 50 billion dollars. Thus, the Kremlin's revenue from raw materials increases by a total of 84 billion dollars.
According to the second scenario, the war will extend until the end of May.
"Oil prices temporarily rise to 140 dollars per barrel, but then quickly fall as regional production and shipping in the Strait of Hormuz recover relatively quickly. By the end of the year, the Kremlin will earn approximately 161.3 billion dollars more in this scenario than it would have expected without a war with Iran. Government revenues will increase by 97 billion dollars," the article states.
According to another scenario, the war will continue until the end of September. In this case, oil prices could rise to 150-200 dollars per barrel. By the end of the year, oil and gas sales will bring Russia approximately 386.6 billion dollars. The Kremlin's tax revenues from commodity trade will reach 212.5 billion dollars.
