NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made statements that were met with dissatisfaction in European capitals.

Modern.az reports that the “Financial Times” publication disseminated information about this.

It was stated that Rutte openly demonstrated support for US President Donald Trump's policy regarding Iran and said that European allies would eventually join the naval coalition established by the US in the Strait of Hormuz.

It is noted that these statements increased tension within the alliance and put European countries in a difficult situation.

However, the European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, stated that this conflict is not Europe's war. Her position was also supported by Germany, Italy, and Spain.

According to the information, diplomats from some European NATO member countries also emphasized that there are significant differences between Rutte's statements and the position of European capitals and expressed concern about this.
