The Israeli army announced that one of its soldiers was killed during clashes in southern Lebanon.
Modern.az reports that the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released information on this matter.
It was reported that 21-year-old Staff Sergeant Ori Greenberg was killed during an operation in one of the border villages in southern Lebanon. The soldier from Petah Tikva served in the elite reconnaissance unit of the “Golani” Brigade.
According to the information, the incident occurred during the night. Units of the “Sayeret Golani” battalion came under targeted fire from armed groups while advancing towards one of the enemy's strongholds. As a result, Greenberg was fatally wounded and lost his life at the scene.
Two more Israeli soldiers were wounded during the same incident. After receiving initial medical aid, they were evacuated to Israeli territory and hospitalized.
It is noted that the Israeli side accuses the “Hezbollah” group, operating in southern Lebanon, of launching missile and drone attacks on its territory. According to claims, the attacks are sometimes carried out from civilian homes.
Previously, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz had announced that his country's forces controlled areas in southern Lebanon up to the Litani River. According to him, local residents will not be allowed to return until security is fully ensured in the region.
