The Pentagon is working on plans for a possible large-scale military operation against Iran.
Modern.az reports that Axios, citing US officials and sources, has published information. It is stated that the discussion revolves around scenarios considered as a final strike, involving both the use of ground troops and intensive bombardment.
According to the information, several alternative options were prepared for former US President Donald Trump. These plans include intervention in strategically important islands located in the Persian Gulf belonging to Iran, their blockade, as well as taking control of important transportation routes in the region. It is particularly reported that targeting areas playing a significant role in Iran's energy exports is being considered.
According to sources, one of the plans involves intervention in islands that strengthen control over the Strait of Hormuz, while another covers the blockade of vessels carrying out Iran's oil exports. Furthermore, the seizure of islands considered strategically important is also listed among possible scenarios.
At the same time, it is also noted that US military personnel are planning ground operations directed into Iranian territory. It is emphasized that the main objective of these operations is to ensure the security of highly enriched uranium stored in nuclear facilities.
