Modern.az reports that this was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
According to her, the parties attacking Iran are further escalating tensions without considering the risks in the war they are waging in the Middle East:
“The aggressors are further escalating the situation in the Middle East war, disregarding risks, including the threat of large-scale radioactive contamination.”
Zakharova noted that on March 27, states attacking Iran carried out targeted strikes on the heavy water complex in Khondab and the uranium ore concentrate production plant in Ardakan. Immediately after this, reports emerged about the renewed shelling of the area around the “Bushehr” NPP.
The diplomat emphasized that these attacks must be unequivocally and strongly condemned by the international community.
She also stated that the leadership of the International Atomic Energy Agency should adopt a clearer stance regarding the emerging threat:
“We hope that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, based on objective information directly received from the Iranian authorities, will urgently and openly convey a simple message to the aggressors:
“Stop! You have already crossed the line. But you still have a chance not to commit greater crimes, not to increase the number of innocent victims, and not to escalate the tragedy to the scale of a global catastrophe.”
Zakharova added that attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities in Iran effectively paralyze the mechanisms of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons for the sake of geopolitical interests.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that Moscow strongly condemns this destructive line of Iran's adversaries and calls on them to stop immediately.
