US President Donald Trump stated that he is seriously considering his country's withdrawal from NATO.
Modern.az reports that he spoke about this in an interview with “The Telegraph”.
Trump noted that NATO countries' failure to join the US in a war with Iran has prompted him to consider such a decision.
“NATO has never impressed me. I always knew they were paper tigers, and Putin knows it too,” the US President emphasized.
According to him, the lack of support from allies has created an “unbelievable” situation. Trump stated that he did not seriously demand participation from NATO countries, but he believes they should automatically join the war.
The US President added that Washington has always supported its allies in other conflicts, including the issue of Ukraine:
“We have always been by their side, but they were not by ours,” Trump stated.
