Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk has warned Armenia of serious consequences if the railway concession is sold.

Modern.az reports that Alexey Overchuk stated this in an interview with TASS agency.

"If the concession of the Russian Federation for Armenian Railways is sold, Armenian Railways will lose not only Russian cargo but also, most likely, its interaction with Russian Railways. Considering the factors affecting the competitiveness of shipping in the Caspian Sea, a significant flow of cargo from Central Asian countries to Armenia and Turkey and vice versa will pass through the Russian Federation.

Simply put, we should be able to look a little further ahead and predict how events will unfold," noted the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government.

According to A. Overchuk, Russian businessmen are cautious about doing business with Armenia due to discussions related to the European Union.

"Moscow sees that Armenia is preparing to join the European Union, which has become a hostile bloc for Russia. The realization of this scenario will lead to serious consequences".

A. Overchuk stated that it is up to the Armenians themselves whether they want to be part of a bloc hostile to Russia.
