US President Donald Trump has declared that the most difficult phase of the war with Iran is over. However, the Iranian side states that it will determine the end time of the war and emphasizes that it has no intention of backing down until its demands are met.
Modern.az reports that CNN has analyzed the main reasons indicating that the conflict has not yet passed its most difficult phase.
4 main reasons for the continuation of the difficult phase of the war:
1. Iran's nuclear potential still remains
Although Trump stated that Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons has been prevented, the fate of over 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium that could be used in bomb production remains unknown. Experts believe that Tehran may currently be more inclined to acquire nuclear weapons.
2. Economic uncertainty has not been eliminated
Without a formal and lasting agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the end of the conflict could be interpreted as Iran dictating its own terms. This could have a serious impact on the global economy. The demand for high tariffs from ships poses a risk of becoming a new reality.
3. Security in the Gulf region has not been ensured
A hasty withdrawal could put Gulf countries at risk again and allow Iran to dictate terms for energy exports. This could contradict the security commitments made by the US to its allies.
4. The Israel factor remains
If Israel believes that Iran's military potential has not been fully neutralized, it may continue its attacks. On the other hand, even if attacks are halted, there is no guarantee that Iran will not retaliate. The withdrawal of the US from the region does not resolve Israel's problems in Lebanon.
