Turkey has intensified its diplomatic efforts to ensure the safety of its vessels amid the tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Official Ankara is holding talks with Iran to ensure the safe passage of ships.

Modern.az reports that currently, passage opportunities through the strait are being sought for 11 Turkish-owned vessels. Additionally, 14 more vessels are in a waiting position in the open sea, and their evacuation has not yet been carried out. According to information, regular contact is maintained with crew members, and the situation is kept under control.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated regarding the issue that Ankara is determined to keep the country out of the military confrontation in the region. According to him, Turkey will continue to use diplomatic channels to prevent further escalation of tensions.

At the same time, Ankara is trying to maintain its role as a mediator for a possible dialogue between Iran and the US. This step is regarded as an important initiative aimed at ensuring stability in the region.

It should be noted that the Strait of Hormuz is considered a strategic route through which approximately 20 percent of global oil shipments pass. The closure of the strait since February 28 has caused significant fluctuations in global energy markets and continues to affect international trade.
