NASA leadership has issued a hopeful statement regarding the existence of alien life in the universe.
Modern.az reports, citing the “Gizmodo” platform, that agency administrator Jared Isaacman stated the probability of finding facts that will prove we are not alone in the universe is “quite high.”
In an interview with CNN, Isaacman emphasized that the search for alien life is a fundamental part of almost all of NASA's scientific and exploratory activities. According to him, “Our job is to unlock the secrets of the universe, and one of the biggest questions is: are we alone?” For this purpose, NASA continues its research in various directions. The agency has so far investigated traces of ancient microbial life with rovers and landers sent to Mars. Concurrently, the Europa Clipper mission, launched in 2024, is studying whether suitable conditions for life exist on Jupiter's moon Europa.
Furthermore, NASA plans to expand these searches in the coming years with more powerful telescopes. Specifically, the Nancy Grace Roman Telescope, scheduled for launch in 2027, will contribute to the discovery of habitable planets in the universe. The NASA head noted that although he has traveled to space twice, he has not yet encountered any alien life forms. Nevertheless, considering the scale of the universe, he believes the probabilities are high: “The probability of being alone in a universe with 2 trillion galaxies seems very low.”
It should be noted that NASA had previously established scientific committees to strengthen research related to alien life and focused on collecting evidence in this direction.
