Reports that Iran will be represented by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf in the upcoming talks with the US have not yet been confirmed.
Modern.az reports that Iran's semi-official “Tasnim” News Agency disseminated information regarding this.
“The head of Iran's negotiating team has not yet been determined,” a source told “Tasnim”.
An informed source stated that despite several media reports claiming that the head of Iran's negotiating team has already been determined, this issue has not yet been resolved.
The source noted that the Secretariat of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, the three branches of government, and other relevant officials are carefully examining all necessary conditions and aspects for the talks, and official statements will be issued soon.
The informed source also advised media outlets to refrain from unfounded speculations and the dissemination of unconfirmed information, given the sensitivity of the situation.
This statement was issued after an Iranian news agency claimed that Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf would lead the Iranian delegation in the Tehran-Washington talks scheduled to be held in Islamabad on April 10.
According to the same unconfirmed information, the US delegation may be led by Vice President James David Vance.
The US and Israel began a war with Iran on February 28.
On the night of April 8, a two-week ceasefire agreement was reached through Pakistan's mediation, during which talks will be held in Islamabad. Iran has proposed a 10-point plan as the basis for discussions; this plan includes demands such as the withdrawal of US forces from the region, the lifting of sanctions, and ensuring control over the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump, however, announced that the talks would be conducted based on Washington's 15-point proposal.
