“We are not doing anything behind Russia's back or against it.”
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a briefing held for journalists after a government meeting. He voiced this opinion in response to a question about whether the issue of transferring the railway to concession management would be discussed during the visit of Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister to Armenia.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Kazakhstan does not hide its interest in the TRIPP project. According to him, Kazakhstan is not the only country showing interest in this project — many states are interested in this initiative.
Pashinyan noted that Armenia, together with Kazakhstan, should invite other countries to use transit routes through Armenia so that they can establish their export-import operations and transport-logistics chains in this direction.
He also added that, besides Kazakhstan, many countries are showing interest in issues related to “South Caucasus Railways.”
It should be recalled that earlier, representatives of “Kazakhstan Railways” company and the country's Ministry of Transport stated that Kazakhstan is currently not holding negotiations regarding the acquisition of the Russian-owned concession for Armenian railways.
