The Republic of Moldova has withdrawn from the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Modern.az reports that the country's president, Maia Sandu, has signed a relevant decree regarding this.

According to the decree, the organization's founding treaty, relevant protocols, and charter have been annulled within the framework of the CIS's core documents.

Last month, the Moldovan government annulled the main CIS agreements, and earlier this month, parliament approved this decision.

It should be recalled that Moldova separated from the former Soviet Union in 1991 and joined the CIS in 1994.
