The Irish government has announced the involvement of the army against farmers and truck drivers participating in protests across the country.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that protests in Ireland against rising fuel prices, amidst the US and Israel's war against Iran, have been ongoing for the third day.
Protesters are disrupting transport operations, the work of medical facilities, and fuel supply by blocking roads and fuel depots.
Police and military personnel have been deployed to dismantle the blockades. Officials have warned that owners of impounded vehicles should not complain about damages, and responsibility for illegal actions is stipulated.
Protesters are demanding the abolition of the carbon tax and government intervention to lower diesel and petrol prices. Currently, fuel prices have reached record levels – €2.14 for diesel and €1.91 for petrol.
One of the protesters stated: “Prices must be capped. The carbon tax must be abolished. The government must intervene and help us, because this situation is not sustainable."
