In Europe, flights may be suspended during the summer months due to a shortage of aviation fuel.
Modern.az reports that, the newspaper “Corriere della Sera” reported this, citing European sources and confidential information. According to the newspaper, only a 10-day supply remains in some countries. “Europe's strategic reserves may not be sufficient to continue flights in some regions during the peak of summer. Only two countries have a 90-day kerosene reserve,” the newspaper writes.
Europe imports 43 percent of its total aviation fuel needs via the Gulf. Brussels hopes that a ceasefire between the US, Israel, and Iran will remain in effect and allow tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. However, even if regular shipments are restored, the arrival and unloading of tankers will take up to two months.
The newspaper stated that the US could be an alternative exporter for Europe, but that the cost and conditions are not yet known.(Azertac)
