In the construction phase of the TRIPP (Zangezur corridor-ed.) project, Armenia will need partners from third countries.
Modern.az reports that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this at a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna.
He stated this while commenting on the US State Department's statement that Armenia is working with Washington and third countries to implement the project.
"We hope to move to the next phase – construction – soon. In this phase, we need partners from third countries. The agreement itself will be bilateral between Armenia and the United States, but during the construction process and most likely in the system management phase, broader international participation will be required," Mirzoyan noted.
According to him, work on the TRIPP project between Armenia and the United States is continuing intensively and is currently in the process of finalizing an intergovernmental agreement. The minister added that the project is of interest to a wide range of countries, from China to Portugal, as well as the Middle East.
The TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project envisages the creation of a strategic transit corridor passing through Armenia's Zangezur province. It is emphasized that this will operate solely within Armenia's jurisdiction and will not affect the country's sovereignty.
The initiative is economic in nature and includes the construction of railways, highways, oil pipelines, gas pipelines, and fiber-optic communication lines. The project will be implemented by an American company in accordance with Armenian legislation, without a military component.
According to the plan, the US will acquire exclusive rights to implement the project for up to 99 years and will have the option to sublease individual parts to an international consortium responsible for infrastructure development and safe operation.
