While preparations are underway for talks with Iran in Pakistan, the US continues to deploy additional forces to the Middle East for potential operations.
Modern.az reports that “The Wall Street Journal” newspaper published this information, citing American officials.
According to the publication, new fighter and attack aircraft have recently been sent to the region. In addition, 1,500-2,000 servicemen from the elite 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army are expected to arrive in the region in the coming days.
The aircraft carrier “USS George H.W. Bush” and its accompanying warships departed from Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia in late March and are currently in the Atlantic Ocean. The “USS Boxer”, carrying the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, departed from California in mid-March and is currently in the Pacific Ocean.
It is reported that it will take more than a week for both military groups to reach the Middle East.
