The main points of the Iran-US talks have been revealed.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that the topics to be discussed by the representatives of the two countries in Islamabad at 16:00 are as follows:
— Iran demands a ceasefire in Lebanon. Israel and the US claim that the campaign in Lebanon is not part of the US-Iran ceasefire, but Tehran insists otherwise.
— Tehran insists on unblocking Iranian assets and lifting sanctions. Washington has stated its readiness to significantly ease sanctions, but this can only happen in exchange for concessions on nuclear and missile programs.
— Iran wants recognition of its control over the Strait of Hormuz, the right to collect fees for passage. The US wants an open strait without any restrictions, including the collection of fees.
— Iran also demands compensation for the damage caused during the six-week war. The US has not commented on this issue.
— Iran wants permission to enrich uranium. Washington has ruled this out, and Trump has said that the issue cannot even be a topic of discussion.
— Inviolability of the missile arsenal. Israel and the US want a significant reduction in Iran's missile capabilities, but Tehran does not consider this a topic of discussion.
— Another agenda item is the withdrawal of American military forces from the region, the cessation of war on all fronts, and a non-aggression commitment. Trump has promised to maintain military assets in the Middle East until a peace agreement is reached and has warned of serious escalation if an agreement is not reached.
