A theft incident causing a great stir has occurred in Germany.

Unknown individuals entered the vault room of a bank located in Gelsenkirchen by drilling during the Christmas holidays. That room contained safety deposit boxes where customers stored money and valuables. The hole was discovered only on Monday morning.

Modern.az reports that, according to information from the German police, the thieves searched the bank's safety deposit boxes where valuables were stored.

3200 safety deposit boxes were affected, and investigators estimate the loot to be worth 30 million euros.

Police announced that investigations are ongoing to determine how many safety deposit boxes were broken into. Therefore, the Sparkasse branch in the Buer district will remain closed until further notice.

Nevertheless, numerous concerned customers came to the bank to get information and check their safety deposit boxes. However, this was not permitted. Police stated that the bank would contact the affected customers itself in the coming days.

According to preliminary information, the thief or thieves entered the bank from an adjacent parking lot. They made a hole in the wall of the vault room with a large drilling tool, and subsequently escaped through that hole with the loot.

It is not yet known exactly when the theft occurred and how long the perpetrators remained in the building.
