Yesterday, a criminal case was initiated against Zaur Akhundov, president of the Azerbaijan Futsal Federation (AFF).
Modern.az reports that a decision has already been made regarding the federation president.
By decision of the Baku Military Court, house arrest was chosen as a preventive measure against Zaur Akhundov.
The judge granted the prosecutor's submission due to the accused having a permanent place of residence and the unlikelihood of him evading investigation.
It should be noted that house arrest is considered a direct alternative preventive measure to detention. This measure is applied on the condition that the accused does not leave his place of residence and complies with other restrictions.
It should be noted that Zaur Akhundov was brought to criminal responsibility by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General. He was charged under Article 179.4 of the Criminal Code (embezzlement - committed on a particularly large scale).
Z. Akhundov's brother, Ramin Akhundov, who is the head of the “Araz-Nakhchivan” football club, is wanted in connection with a criminal case involving cigarette smuggling. (Qafqazinfo)
