Weekend road traffic accidents claimed the lives of 3 pedestrians.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in the information provided by the Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It was stated that the analysis of pedestrian-involved accidents recorded last weekend necessitates a reminder of several dangerous points: "Thus, indifference to rules among pedestrians, who are the most vulnerable participants in road traffic, claimed the lives of 3 people in just one day.
These incidents, recorded during the dark hours of the day in residential areas, once again provide grounds to state that the disregard for road traffic rules by most pedestrians, the habit of crossing the road anywhere, the use of headphones while crossing the road, or addiction to activities that distract attention and make them forget they are in a dangerous area – in short, an indifferent approach to the simplest safety rules – is one of the main causes of the tragedies occurring on our roads.
However, every road user must know that the road is a shared space. In this environment where rules apply to everyone, any road user, including pedestrians, who considers themselves outside the general norms of behavior, can become a potential victim of tragedy.
The simplest, yet vital, duty of pedestrians is to cross the road only at designated crossings and with caution. We must not forget that a pedestrian who fails to comply with this simple rule, whether intentionally or due to carelessness, can change their own fate and that of other road users."
