Following the collapse of the dam at the Qejuxa reservoir in Dagestan, a total of more than 4000 people have been evacuated from four micro-districts of the Derbent region.

Modern.az reports that information on this matter has been disseminated by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to the statement, the aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has been mobilized to monitor the situation. A special group led by Müslüm Devrişbekov, head of the regional department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, has been dispatched to the scene.

It was noted that yesterday, due to the overflowing of the river, a dam collapsed in the Derbent region, and by evening, the Ministry of Emergency Situations had evacuated approximately 800 families to temporary accommodation centers. At the same time, the ministry announced plans to relocate an additional 4165 people, including 823 children, to a safe zone. Due to the rising water level, a bridge on the Kavkaz federal highway collapsed. In the Derbent region, one woman and one child died as a result of the river's current. Currently, searches are underway for 2 more people.
