Under the FIFA World Cup, the names of the world champions (since 1974) are inscribed.
Researchers Nazim Khalilov and Elnur Najiyev provided this information in a statement to Modern.az.
“To date, 22 world championships have taken place, but the names of 13 champion countries are inscribed under the World Cup. This is because this trophy was first presented at the WC-1974. Under the World Cup, the names of the winning teams are inscribed in their own language: 1974 - Deutschland (Germany - ed.), 1978 - Argentina, 1982 - Italia, 1986 - Argentina, 1990 - Deutschland, 1994 - Brasil, 1998 - France, 2002 - Brasil, 2006 - Italia, 2010 - España (Spain - ed.), 2014 - Deutschland, 2018 - France, 2022 - Argentina.
