Azerbaijan's total public debt amounted to 25 billion 987.5 million manats, of which 8 billion 183 million manats (4 billion 813.5 million dollars) constituted foreign public debt.
Modern.az reports that the largest portion of the foreign public debt was accounted for by loans received from the Asian Development Bank. The debt to this institution stands at 1 billion 702.9 million dollars (2 billion 894.9 million manats).
It should be noted that the distribution of foreign public debt by creditors is as follows:
- Asian Development Bank – 1,702.9 million dollars (2,894.9 million manats);
- Eurobond investors – 1,387.3 million dollars (2,358.4 million manats);
- World Bank – 657.1 million dollars (1,117.1 million manats);
- Islamic Development Bank – 230.2 million dollars (391.3 million manats);
- European Bank for Reconstruction and Development – 216.4 million dollars (367.9 million manats);
- Japan International Cooperation Agency – 150.7 million dollars (256.2 million manats);
- Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank – 78.6 million dollars (133.6 million manats);
- Other creditors – 390.3 million dollars (663.6 million manats).
It should also be noted that 58.2% of the foreign public debt must be repaid to creditors within a period of up to 5 years, 36.1% within a period of 5 to 10 years, and 5.7% within a period exceeding 10 years.
85.7% of the foreign public debt was denominated in US dollars, 6.4% in euros, 3.2% in SDR (Special Drawing Rights of the International Monetary Fund), 3.1% in Japanese yen, and 1.6% in other currencies. (Source:Yeniavaz.com)
