As of January 1, 2026, the number of hired employees in the country's economy amounted to 1 million 808.0 thousand people.
Modern.az reports this with reference to the State Statistical Committee.
It was reported that 865.8 thousand of them were employed in the public sector, and 942.2 thousand people were active in the non-public sector.
18.6 percent of hired employees worked in trade and repair of transport vehicles, 18.1 percent in education, and 13.8 percent in the industry sector. 8.5 percent of employees were engaged in healthcare and social services, 6.6 percent in construction, and 6.2 percent in public administration, defense, and social security.
Additionally, 4.4 percent of hired employees worked in transport and warehousing, 3.9 percent in professional, scientific, and technical activities, 2.4 percent in agriculture, forestry, and fishing, and 2.4 percent in financial and insurance activities. The remaining 15.1 percent accounted for other sectors of the economy.
According to preliminary data for 2025, the average monthly nominal wage of hired employees in the country's economy increased by 9.3 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 1102.9 manats. The average monthly nominal wage was recorded higher in mining, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as transport and warehousing.
