In January 2026, the consumer price index (CPI) amounted to 105.7 percent compared to January 2025.

Modern.az reports, citing the State Statistical Committee, that on an annual basis, prices for food products, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products increased by 7.1 percent, for non-food products by 3.5 percent, and for paid services rendered to the population by 5.6 percent.

According to the information, in January of the current year, the consumer price index was 101.5 percent compared to the previous month.

In January, the price index for food products, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products amounted to 101.3 percent compared to the previous month. On a monthly basis, pasta, oatmeal, sausage products, fish and fish products, milk and dairy products (yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, curd), eggs, tangerines, bananas, apples, pears, persimmons, kiwis, walnuts, hazelnuts, greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers, pumpkins, eggplants, garlic, potatoes, chocolate products, vodka, cognac, wine, and cigarettes became more expensive.

During the same period, round rice, oranges, white cabbage, table beets, carrots, and tomato paste became cheaper. No significant changes were recorded in the prices of other food products.

The consumer price index for non-food goods was 101.3 percent compared to the previous month. In January, fabrics, wallpaper, plastic windows, laminate flooring, cement, table and chair furniture, carpets, heating system equipment, small electrical appliances, “AI-92” brand automobile gasoline, diesel fuel, engine oil, mobile phones, newspapers, and jewelry became more expensive.

However, a decrease was recorded in the prices of cut timber, refrigerators, air conditioners, and tablet computers. No significant changes occurred in the prices of other non-food goods.

Additionally, the price index for paid services rendered to the population amounted to 101.9 percent compared to the previous month. In January, electricity and natural gas supply, medical and dental services, taxi services, barbershop services, and catering services provided by restaurants and cafes became more expensive.

However, prices for goods delivery and international passenger transportation services by air transport decreased. No significant changes were recorded in the prices of other paid services.
