In January 2026, products worth 5.3 billion manats were sold to consumers in the retail trade network.
Modern.az, referring to the State Statistical Committee, reports that of this, 2.9 billion manats accounted for food products, beverages, and tobacco products, and 2.4 billion manats for non-food products.
According to the information, compared to the same month of the previous year, retail trade turnover increased by 3.7 percent. During this period, the increase for food products, beverages, and tobacco products was 1.3 percent, and for non-food products, it was 6.6 percent.
In the reporting month, of the funds spent by consumers on goods purchased in the retail trade network, 49.1 percent was spent on food products, 4.9 percent on beverages and tobacco products, 14.4 percent on textile products, clothing, and footwear, 5.7 percent on automobile gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.5 percent on electrical goods and furniture, 2.7 percent on pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, 1.5 percent on computers, telecommunication equipment, and printing products, and 17.2 percent on other non-food products.
The value of goods sold by economic entities operating in the non-state sector increased by 3.8 percent in real terms compared to January of the previous year, accounting for 99.8 percent of the total retail trade turnover.
In January 2026, retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 5.4 percent for enterprises, by 1.8 percent for individual entrepreneurs, and by 5.5 percent in markets and fairs.
Additionally, during the respective month, the average per capita purchase in the retail trade network amounted to 515.7 manats. Of this, 278.6 manats accounted for food products, beverages, and tobacco products, and 237.1 manats for non-food products.
