A calcination and anode baking plant will be built in Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in the Decree on a number of measures to ensure the development of the mining (metal ores) and metallurgy industry in Azerbaijan, signed today by President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the Decree, the Azerbaijan Investment Holding will carry out the construction of the plant in accordance with the prepared feasibility study, determining the sources of financing and implementing it together with relevant state bodies (agencies).
Furthermore, measures will be taken to improve energy and transport tariffs, allocate additional land if necessary, and meet electricity demand, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of metallurgical products.
It is reported that the Western Industrial Park to be established in the country will enable the expansion of iron ore processing and the deepening of the value chain in the metallurgy industry in Azerbaijan.
According to the Decree, the renovation of ore processing enterprises in Dashkasan and Gadabay districts, as well as the commissioning of promising deposits in the liberated territories, has expanded the production and export capabilities of the mining (metal ores) and metallurgy industry.
Concurrently, the establishment of the Western Industrial Park creates opportunities to expand the processing of iron ore reserves and deepen the value chain in the metallurgy industry.
It is noted that additional measures are necessary for the efficient use of the existing mineral and raw material base, strengthening production links between extraction and processing stages, harmonizing infrastructure and logistics decisions, as well as expanding public-private partnerships.
"Against the backdrop of the ongoing energy transition in the global economy and the development of high technologies, the increasing demand for metals further enhances the strategic importance of this sector. The Republic of Azerbaijan's rich mineral resources, competitive energy supply, industrial promotion mechanisms, and location on the Middle Corridor create favorable conditions for the sustainable development of related industrial sectors", the decree states.
