86.5% of the design works and 42.6% of the construction and installation works for the Aghdam-Khankendi railway line have been completed.
Information on this was provided to Modern.az by "Azerbaijan Railways" CJSC.
It was stated that the length of the railway line is 28 kilometers, and, together with the side tracks, it totals 30.8 kilometers.
Within the framework of the project, 3 stations (Asgaran and Khojaly stations, Khankendi Railway and Bus Terminal Complex) and the construction of 124 engineering structures are planned. These 3 stations will strengthen domestic transport mobility along this line based on the most modern standards.
It should be recalled that on August 30, 2025, passenger transportation on the Baku-Aghdam-Baku route commenced. Currently, passengers use the Baku, Bilajari, Ujar, Laki, Yevlakh, Barda, Kocherli, Tazakand, and Aghdam stations along the route. ADY provides services to passengers with modern "FLIRT" brand trains manufactured by the Swiss company "Stadler". Passengers are offered travel opportunities in standard, standard+, business, and first classes.
It should be noted that until the occupation period, passenger transportation from Baku to Aghdam was carried out by a sleeping-car train operating on the Baku–Khankendi–Baku route. At that time, trains last operated in the Baku-Aghdam-Baku direction in 1993.
