“OPEC+” countries have agreed to increase oil production by 206 thousand barrels per day starting from May.
Modern.az reports that the decision was adopted during a virtual meeting held among the alliance's main participants – Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman. During the meeting, the current situation in the global energy market and future forecasts were discussed.
It is reported that the decision was made against the backdrop of US-Israel-Iran tensions, and the potential impacts of this confrontation on crude oil supply were taken into account.
It was noted in a statement released by OPEC that member countries of the alliance emphasized the particular importance of protecting international maritime transport routes for the uninterrupted continuation of energy flows.
