The first months of 2026 have not been calm for the banking sector. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has identified irregularities in a leading bank and applied administrative measures. The main reason for these decisions is the incorrect preparation and untimely submission of prudential reports.
Modern.az reports, based on information obtained from the Central Bank, that “Kapital Bank”, “AFB Bank”, “Xalq Bank” and “Yapı Kredi Bank” Azerbaijan have committed similar irregularities. The banks have been held administratively liable for violating the rules regarding the form, content, and submission of prudential reports.
In accordance with legislative requirements, “Kapital Bank”, “Xalq Bank” and “Yapı Kredi Bank” Azerbaijan were fined 1500 manats, while “AFB Bank” had to pay a higher fine of 2000 manats.
One of the notable points is that in some cases, a fine alone was not sufficient. For instance, “AFB Bank” faced an additional supervisory measure because it failed to inform the Central Bank in a timely manner about appointments and changes to administrative positions. The bank was issued a mandatory order to improve its internal procedures.
A similar case was recorded concerning “Rabitəbank”. Due to the delayed notification to the Central Bank regarding a violation of law during the formalization of loans, the bank was warned and required to strengthen its internal control mechanisms.
