According to Modern.az, Professor Qorxmaz İmanov is a corresponding member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and a Doctor of Economic Sciences.
Qorxmaz Jahangir oglu İmanov was born in Baku in 1941. In 1964, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Azerbaijan State University. From 1964 to 1967, he pursued postgraduate studies at the Central Economic-Mathematical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow, and in 1968, he defended his candidate of economic sciences dissertation at the same institute.
From January 1968 to March 1969, he worked as a junior research fellow at the Institute of Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR. From 1969 to 1971, he worked as a senior lecturer and associate professor at the Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy. In September 1971, he returned to the Institute of Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan as a senior research fellow. In 1975, he defended his doctoral dissertation in economic sciences at the Central Economic-Mathematical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. From August 1974 to December 1987, he worked as head of a laboratory and later as head of a department at the Institute of Cybernetics.
From June 1983, he was awarded the academic title of professor, and in 1984, he was honored with the State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR in the field of science and technology. From 1987 to 1993, he served as the director of the Scientific-Research Institute of Economics of the Azerbaijan State Planning Committee and later of the Ministry of Economy. From 1993 to 1998, he worked at the Institute of Market Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences. From 1999 to 2000, he worked as a chief advisor at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Since 2001, he worked at the ANAS Institute of Cybernetics, initially as a senior research fellow and head of a laboratory. In 2017, he was elected a corresponding member of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Q. İmanov lectured at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Baku State University, and Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry from 1969 to 2010.
He currently works as the head of the Laboratory of Fuzzy Models in Economics at the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Science and Education.
