Located in Turkey's Black Sea region, between Rize and Artvin, the Kaçkar Mountains offer diverse nature and adventure opportunities throughout the year. This richness contributes to the region's international recognition.
Modern.az reports that following the KAÇKAR BY UTMB ultramarathon, which started last year, the International Kaçkar Tourism Exhibition will be held in Rize on April 17-18.
Organized with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and TGA, the exhibition aims to promote the region's nature and cultural heritage globally. In addition to exhibitions, panels, conferences, and seminars will be held at the event, bringing together thousands of participants.
The Kaçkar Mountains are distinguished by over 50 alpine lakes, dense forests, deep valleys, and a rich ecosystem. The Kaçkar summit, at an altitude of 3937 meters, is a major attraction for trekking and mountaineering. Activities such as hiking and cycling are possible in summer, while skiing, snowboarding, and heliskiing are available in winter.
The region attracts attention not only with its nature but also with its culture. Local plateau life, traditional craftsmanship, the horon dance, and tulum music offer tourists a unique experience. The thermal springs of Ayder Plateau are an ideal location for relaxation and health tourism.
In addition to all these, organic honey, mountain herbs, famous tea, and fresh seafood make a trip to Kaçkar even more memorable.
Thanks to this diversity, the Kaçkar Mountains are increasingly strengthening their position on the world tourism map. The 2026 KAÇKAR BY UTMB race will also be held here on September 11–13.
