The UK's "BBC" news agency plans to cut its costs by hundreds of millions of pounds sterling.

Modern.az reports this, citing the "Financial Times" (FT).

According to the information, department heads have been given until the end of March to prepare proposals for cost reductions. This saving is expected to amount to approximately 10% over the next three years. It has been stated that the reduction in funding is expected to affect all "BBC" services, from newsrooms to commercial studios. It was noted that staff redundancies are envisaged.

According to the information, the broadcaster's operating expenses last year amounted to 2 billion pounds sterling (2.7 billion dollars).

In recent years, corporations in the UK have been forced to cut their budgets due to rising costs and declining audiences on online platforms.

"BBC" is under additional pressure from a 10 billion dollar lawsuit filed against it by US President Donald Trump. The American leader accuses the British media of distorting his speech in the "Panorama" program broadcast in October 2024.
