A life imprisonment sentence may be sought against Ibrahim Suleymanov, a well-known businessman in Russia, known as a “shadow billionaire”.

Modern.az reports that Aleksandr Khaminsky, head of the Law Enforcement Center for the Moscow region, made a statement regarding this.

Ibrahim Suleymanov was detained in Moscow on October 2. He has been charged under Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (“Intentional Homicide”). On October 3, Moscow's Basmanny Court ordered his pre-trial detention.

According to Russian media reports, the case is related to the murders of Georgi Tal, former head of the Federal Financial Rehabilitation and Judicial Administration (FСФО), and trade union leader Gennady Borisov. Both crimes were committed in 1999 and 2004, respectively.

Suleymanov is considered one of the most influential billionaires in Russian business circles. He was previously convicted on charges of fraud and money laundering. The press reports that he is the son-in-law of Platon Lebedev, former partner of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, and a beneficiary of “Sirena-Travel”, one of the country's main IT infrastructures.

Ibrahim Suleymanov was born on May 29, 1967, in the village of Rutul, Dagestan ASSR. He is a Russian citizen and has been known for many years as an individual with hidden influence in the country's financial and transport sectors.

Currently, the investigation is examining his other old business connections and possible roles as an instigator. If Suleymanov's guilt is proven, he faces a life sentence.
