The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that the information spread about the alleged killing of Denis Kapustin, commander of the “Russian Volunteer Corps” (RDK), was part of a special operation.
Modern.az reports that the agency stated that Kapustin is alive.
The statement indicates that the information was intended to mislead Russian special services.
The statement released by the Intelligence Directorate notes that 500,000 dollars allocated by Russian special services for Kapustin's elimination have been seized, and these funds will be directed towards strengthening the special units of Ukrainian intelligence. The agency assessed this incident as a failure of the Russian special services.
A video was also shared along with the statement. In the video, the commander of a special unit named “Timur” reports to the head of the Intelligence Directorate, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov. Denis Kapustin also appears to be participating in the video conference.
During the report, Budanov was informed that the Russian special services were the masterminds behind Kapustin's assassination, and that the individuals executing this plan have also been identified. According to the information, the funds allocated for the assassination attempt have also been seized by the Ukrainian side.
