The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan has issued a security alert.
Modern.az reports that the embassy has urged U.S. citizens to leave Iran as soon as possible:
“U.S. citizens should leave Iran now. If it is safe to do so, consider departing for Turkey or Armenia."
The statement also indicates that U.S. citizens wishing to depart Iran via Azerbaijan should consider potential border restrictions. The embassy reminds that during a period of high tension, in June 2025, during the conflict between Iran and Israel, the entry of U.S. citizens from Iran to Azerbaijan was restricted.
"U.S. citizens should consider alternative routes for exiting Iran," the statement emphasized.
