US President Donald Trump stated that he asked Russian President Vladimir Putin not to fire at Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv.

Modern.az reports that Trump made this statement during his speech at the White House.

According to him, the conversation covered a period of one week. Trump stated that Putin agreed to this request.

The US President also said there was significant progress in talks regarding Ukraine. He noted that the process is actively continuing towards the settlement of the conflict.

Trump stated that special envoy Steven Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner are working intensively in this direction. According to the President, the end of the war is approaching.

The US leader added that the current period has been one of the most successful years in the history of American administrations. According to his claim, eight wars have been prevented during this period, and the conflict in Ukraine is also nearing its end.
