In Turkey, demanding a service fee in restaurants has been officially prohibited.
Modern.az reports that the "Regulation on Amending the Price Label Rules," prepared by the Turkish Ministry of Trade, was published in the official gazette - "Resmi Gazete" and entered into force.
According to the new amendment, restaurants, cafes, patisseries, and similar establishments offering food and beverage services can no longer demand additional payments from consumers under any name, such as service, table, cover charges, etc.
The decision states: "According to the provisions of Article 51 of the Labor Law No. 4857 dated 22/5/2003, in restaurants, cafes, patisseries, and similar establishments providing food and beverage services, no additional payment can be demanded from the consumer under any name, such as service fee, table fee, cover charge, etc.(Source: Haber Globl)
