Russia prefers the continuation of the war by violating its promises regarding Ukraine's energy and critical infrastructure.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He voiced these remarks at a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
According to him, the US president called on the Russian side to refrain from strikes on energy and critical infrastructure for one week on the eve of the meeting of negotiation groups. However, according to Zelenskyy, this agreement has been effectively violated.
“The strikes began on Friday night and continued tonight. This means that either Russia understands the concept of 'one week' as four days, or they have openly decided to continue the war,” Zelenskyy stated.
He emphasized that Russia specifically waited for a period when the weather became even colder, with temperatures dropping to minus 20 degrees in many regions of Ukraine. According to the President, the latest attack was a record in terms of Russia's use of ballistic missiles, and this strike constitutes a violation of the obligations agreed upon by the US side. “There must be consequences for this,” he added.
It should be recalled that, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of February 3, Russia carried out a combined attack against Ukraine with 71 different types of missiles and 450 attack drones.
