Georgia's law enforcement agencies have conducted a large-scale operation against the “thieves' world”. On the night of February 2-3, 45 people were detained on charges of involvement with the “thieves' world”.

Modern.az reports that the Tbilisi police department provided information on this matter.

It was stated that criminal liability measures will be taken against another 15 people in the near future.

During the investigation, law enforcement agencies discovered evidence that “thieves' discussions” and disputes were conducted with the participation of “thieves-in-law” living abroad. According to the information, Sulkhan Japaridze (nickname Sukho) and Petre Bakradze (nickname Paata Tbilisski) were involved in resolving financial disputes according to “thieves' rules” and made decisions in favor of one of the parties.

According to Vaja Siradze, the investigation also determined that “thief-in-law” Revaz Ubilava (nickname Jvariski) organized “thieves' disputes” remotely and made decisions through his family members – his mother and brother. In this context, his mother and brother were also detained.

The detained individuals have been charged under articles such as “membership in the thieves' world”, “support for the activities of the thieves' world”, “appealing to a member of the thieves' world”, and “being in the status of a thief-in-law”. They face a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
